Mark D. Magarian

Mark Magarian is a graduate of the University of Southern California, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. After graduation, he moved to Boston, Massachusetts for one year, where he clerked in a prominent downtown law firm. Thereafter, he returned to California to attend law school at Golden Gate University School of Law. He received his Juris Doctorate in 1992.

Following graduation from law school, Mark worked as an attorney for the AV rated Central California law firm of Dowling, Magarian, Phillips & Aaron (DMP&A — a firm that was co-founded by his late grandfather, and father, in 1977). At DMP&A, Mark worked on a variety of business litigation matters, as well as general business counseling in the labor and employment setting.

In 1996, Mark and two colleagues created their own firm, Heyman, Kerkorian & Magarian, LLP (HK&M). HK&M was also an AV rated Central California law firm. During his tenure at HK&M, Mark litigated a number of highly contested cases before juries and judges alike, including federal, state and administrative trial work. He also continued to provide general business counseling in the labor and employment setting to numerous small, medium and large businesses located throughout the West Coast (including clients such as Mesa Air Group, a large regional airline doing business as United Express and Mpower Communications Corp., a national publicly traded telecommunications provider). During this time, Mark also served as an Arbitrator for the Superior Court of California, County of Fresno.

In late 1999, Mpower Communications Corp. appointed Mark to their senior management team and named him the Senior Vice President of Human Resources. He relocated his family to corporate headquarters in Rochester, New York, and proceeded to help the company grow from 700 to over 2,500 employees in his first year. He was awarded the Company’s first annual Power of Leadership Award in 2001.

In late 2002, Mark was recruited back to California by SeeBeyond Technology Corporation, a publicly traded global software company. Again, Mark was appointed to the senior management team and named the Senior Vice President of Human Resources. At SeeBeyond, Mark was responsible for the entire global Human Resource function, and among other things, helped the Company rebuild its senior management team, develop competitive compensation and benefit programs, and become a leader in the enterprise application integration space.

Mark is an active member of the State Bar of California and the Orange County Bar Association, and in his spare time coaches youth sports, plays golf, is a student pilot, and serves on the Board for the Yorba Linda High School Football Boosters Club and Yorba Hills Little League.
